In this episode, Thomas reviews the film Sisu. In the twilight of World War II, a lone prospector played by Jorma Tommila strikes it rich when he finds a substantial amount of gold in North Finland. His task now is to simply deposit his bounty at a bank in the nearest town. On his trek there, however, the man encounters a retreating brigade of Nazi soldiers led by an odious SS Obersturmführer, played by Aksel Hennie, who has set his sights on claiming the gold at all costs. What they soon learn, however, is that this man is no ordinary miner, but rather a legendary one-man army who embodies the Finnish concept of “sisu” — a white-knuckled form of courage and unimaginable determination in the face of overwhelming odds.
