ForReel Box Office Summary: Crazy Rich Asians has Crazy Rich 2nd weekend with impressive 6% drop

Last weekend, Crazy Rich Asians was adjusted up to $26.5 million three day total. Many were a expecting a tight race between Crazy Rich Asians and The Happytime Murders but while the latter limped out of the gate to subpar $10 million Crazy Rich Asians rode critical acclaim and audience appeal to a $25 million total. The drop of 5.7% according to Box Office Mojo would place the film in the top 30 since 1982. If you remove Christmas week releases - it cracks the top 10. A.X.L. the second release this weekend was a no show - barely cracking $2.5 million as well as the top 10 overall at the box office.

Here's how the top 5 broke down:

1. Crazy Rich Asians | $25 million | $76.8 million

2. The Meg | $13 million | $105.3 million

3. The Happytime Murders | $10 million

4. Mission Impossible: Fallout | $8 million | $193.9 million

5. Christopher Robin | $6.3 million | $77.6 million

Next weekend, there are two wide releases: Operation Finale - a film about a crew of agents set out to find the Nazi officer who masterminded the Holocaust  & Kin - about a released ex-con and his adopted younger brother go on the run with a weapon of unknown origin as their only protection.

Our question for you is this: Do you think Crazy Rich Asians will continue to rule the box office with continual minimal drops into September?
