2018 In Review: Top 10 Films Of The Year

As we wrap up 2018 and get ready to begin 2019 let's take a look back at the top 10 films I saw this year.

10. Instant Family

While there is plenty of heart and fun, Instant Family has too many cringeworthy comedy moments that bog down it's full potential.

9.  Deadpool 2

If you enjoyed the original you will no doubt enjoy Deadpool 2.0. It's hilarious and fun but lacks a certain depth and originality. Still, most would assume Deadpool would want to go deeper.

8. Black Panther

This film flourishes with the use of breathtaking visuals and strong acting performances by both Chadwick Boseman and Michael B. Jordan, as well as pacing and emotion that never leaves a dull moment.

7.  Bumblebee

One of the many criticisms of the Michael Bay led Transformers franchise was the lack of emotional connection to our heroes. In Bumblebee, Travis Knight opted to flip that script and in doing so provided the best Transformers film to date.

6.  Ready Player One

Are you ready for a dose of nostalgic culture shock? If so, Ready Player One is the film you're looking for. If not, you need not apply.

5. Mission Impossible: Fallout

The Mission Impossible franchise continues to be strong and Tom Cruise is on par with his best work.

4. Avengers: Infinity War

The culmination of ten years of MCU films is finally upon us with Infinity War and it's more of the same - A quality film for the masses.

3. Incredibles 2

The incredibles return was well worth the wait and just as good as the original. The real question is what took them so long?

2. Bohemian Rhapsody

With a strong and emotional story plus the fantastic soundtrack Bohemian Rhapsody is the best biopic I've seen.

1. Gosnell: The Trial Of Americas Biggest Serial Killer

Gosnell: The Trial of America's Biggest Serial Killer is my favorite film of the year. While I doubt it will get much Oscar buzz due to the political nature of the abortion debate, that does not mean its unworthy.
